DEVELOPMENT

THAT'S A WRAP!

The journey of making BRIDGETOWN began in March of 2013 when the idea of multiple characters struggling with life in the city of Portland was first pitched. The story had depth on mulitple levels and was better suited to fit a feature length screenplay. In order to keep the essential idea into a short film, we had to figure out what elements do we pull from the feature. That is where THIS story of BRIDGETOWN comes into play.

Production has come and gone just as quickly as it arrived. We had quite the challenge on our hands trying to fit so many dramatic moments into three days of production. We were able to find a balance of allowing the actors to explore those moments a bit deeper while also allowing the schedule to move along quickly. The crew was simply superb in every facet of production. Even though we were dealing with heavy material and had moments where both cast and crew had to find a serious place emotionally, everyone genuinely related to one another and enjoyed their time on set.

There is always a sense of panic and worry as DAY ONE draws near. As soon as the director yells, "That's a wrap on BRIDGETOWN." there is a different feeling, one that is bittersweet. Although SO much hardwork and stress goes into a film, once one is wrapped, you CANNOT wait for the next one to begin. THANK YOU to everyone that put a little piece of themselves into this film. In JUNE, we get to show how that hardwork and sacrifice paid off.

CAST TABLE READ

Casting is a big part of making a film, well almost every part is a big part, but getting the cast just right can make or break a film - even if it is the most gorgeous looking film ever made. The casting for BRIDGETOWN was nothing short of challenging. The entire story rests on the shoulders of  our character Peter Abbott and therefore rests on the shoulders of the actor portraying Peter. Also, the principal actor is only as good as his/her supporting cast, so finding a good fit for the principal is just as challenging.

We recently held our first table read with the cast, director and one of the producers. In case you're not familiar with the concept of a table read, it is essentially a complete read through of the script where the cast acts out their roles as they interpret them at the time. The Director and Producer may have notes for the actors, they discuss some possible changes and then go through another read.  TABLE READ GALLERY

The cast was nothing short of superb in only two readings. Tracy Conklin (Peter Abbott) has a passion for his character and brings an intensity that audiences will be impacted by. Emily Jo Alexander (Emily Abbott) will immediately garner sympathy from the audience with her dramatic plea to Peter. Sydney Somerfield (Sandra), Troy Thomas (Sean), and Zac Eberhard (Ram) round out the amazing supporting cast, bringing depth to the world of BRIDGETOWN.

MARK NABORCZYK DONATION

It takes so many people and so many elements to bring a film together and make it successful. Raising funds for a film is a huge aspect of making that a reality. As part of fundraising, sometimes you need to add an incentive to peak people's interests. We have been fortunate enough to receive an AMAZING incentive from a local NW artist, Mark Naborczyk. Mark has generously donated a few of his giclee prints of the St Johns Bridge that you see in the image. He has a store front on Etsy.com with even more beautiful prints available of other cities along with a few other great items for sale.

We cannot thank Mark enough for this very kind and thoughtful donation of his time and effort. PLEASE take a moment to visit Mark's Etsy store to see all he has to offer. You will be supporting Northwest artists as well. You can go here - NIGHTINGALE CITYSCAPES - to view his unique prints. Also check out the DONATION PAGE to see just how you can get this limited print for yourself by donating to our film. THANK YOU AGAIN MARK.
